Rates & Fee Structure

Therapeutic services are billed at the rate of $175.00 per therapy hour - 50-minute session, with 10 minutes devoted to chart review and progress notes. Additional time and other services pertinent to your care are charged on a prorated basis. Examples of this include longer session times, report writing, and attendance at meetings or school visits.

Occupational Therapy (60-minute) - $120.00

DBT (90-minute) -  $200.00

Compassionate Connections does offer a limited number of appointments on a sliding fee scale. Please email info@compassionateconnectiontherapy.com or call (902) 640-6565 for more information. Proof of income may be required.

Insurance Coverage

Social work and therapeutic fees are not covered under Nova Scotia's MSI plan. Many private health care plans cover part or a significant portion of therapeutic services. Please talk to your insurance provider directly to see what your specific plan covers. At this time Compassionate Connections only offers direct billing to Blue Cross. We will provide you with a billing statement that you can submit to your insurance company if required.

Child & adolescent psychiatry appointments are covered under Nova Scotia's MSI plan. Since this is covered provincially, legislation requires those wanting an appointment to provide a referral from a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner. This referral must be faxed to us, and we will contact you with an appointment. These services are ONLY available to individuals ages 6 to 18. 

Cancellation/Late/No-Show

Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you, and without sufficient notice, we cannot provide that time to other individuals and families. If you need to cancel an appointment please provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice either by phone (902) 640-6565 or email at info@compassionateconnectiontherapy.com. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session rate of the time reserved for you unless a medical note is presented. Whenever possible, please try to give at least one week's notice if you know you may not be able to make your appointment and we will be happy to provide you with another appointment time. 

For missed psychiatry appointments, we require at least two business days' notification of cancellation. For missed, late, or no-show appointments there is a charge of $200.00 for missed initial assessments and $100.00 for follow-up appointments. These fees are required to be paid in full before your next appointment can be scheduled.
